'Canceled' Tops Opening Weekend, Becoming 2023's Biggest Swedish Film Debut

August 28, 2023 - The Swedish horror sensation, "Canceled", directed by the acclaimed Oskar Mellander, has stormed the box office, clinching the title of the best opening for a Swedish film in 2023. Triumphing over contenders like "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" during its August 25-27 premiere, this spine-chilling tale has firmly established its dominance in the cinematic landscape.

Following the journey of ghosthunters facing real horrors at the Raven Castle, the film boasts a stellar cast, including Vincent Grahl of the 2022 hit "Feed" and Felicia Kartal from "Snabba Cash".

"Canceled" not only stands as a testament to Mellander's directing prowess, following his 2020 success with "The Evil Next Door", but also highlights the continued excellence of producers Paolo Vacirca and Henry Stenberg for Scandinavian Content Group. With "Feed" having achieved nearly 120,000 tickets sold and winning the Swedish Guldbagge Public Choice Award, it's clear that "Canceled" is following in its triumphant footsteps.

TrustNordisk will soon showcase exclusive footage from "Canceled" at the Cannes Film Festival. Horror aficionados can also look forward to Scandinavian Content Group's upcoming "Carousel", directed by Simon Sandquist.
